Buckhurst Construction supports self-builders and homeowners building a new home from the ground up, managing the project from plot through to completion across Berkshire and Surrey.

Our new build service

We work with self-builders at any stage, from an undeveloped plot through to a finalised design ready to build, and manage the construction of luxury specification new build homes throughout. This is typically a longer project than a renovation or extension, and we scope the programme, budget, and specification accordingly from the outset.

 

Our process.

  • Modern kitchen refit with grey cupboards and black bar stools.

    Initial consultation.

    This entails a discussion of the plot, your brief, and your budget.

  • Downstairs reception room renovation with automatic dark wooden doors.

    Design and plan.

    We work with an architect (in-house or your own) to develop a design suited to the plot and your specification. We help to manage the planning application process, which for a new build is typically more involved than for a renovation or extension.

  • Build.

    A dedicated project team manages construction from groundworks through to completion, with regular updates throughout.

  • Bathroom renovation with modern marble and his and hers sink and free standing tub and double shower

    Handover.

    We complete a full walkthrough and snagging check before we sign off to make sure that you are 100% satisfied with the work that has been completed.

We primarily support projects where a plot is already secured, though we're happy to discuss your situation if you're still assessing a potential plot's suitability.

How long does a new build take from plot to completion?

This varies significantly with the size and specification of the build and how long planning permission takes. We give a project-specific programme once the design and planning route are clear.

Do you manage planning permission for a new build?

Yes, we manage the planning application process as part of the project, alongside the design.

How much does a new build home cost?

Cost depends heavily on plot conditions, size, and specification, so we don't estimate a figure without a detailed design and site assessment. Get in touch for a tailored quote.

Can you build to a design I already have, or do you develop the design too?

Both. We can build to an existing design or develop one with you as part of the project, depending on where you are in the process.
